Practice Nurse Awards

Nominations are now open! You can help to recognise and reward the hard work, innovation and dedication of GP Practice Nurses by nominating them for an Award at the prestigious Yorkshire & Humber Celebrating GP Practice Nursing Conference 2019. By nominating that nurse, you will not only be gaining them the recognition and reward they deserve, you will be doing your part to highlight the vital contribution nursing makes to primary healthcare. Nurses can either nominate themselves or be nominated by a care professional, patient or carer. These Awards provide a unique opportunity to highlight and showcase the very best examples of primary care nursing in Barnsley.

The Award categories are:

Mentorship and preceptorship award (recognising the inspirational support given to individuals who are new or newly qualified and/or to student nurses on placement in primary care).

Innovation Award (recognising creativity and drive in developing new services including the use of digital tools and technology to improve patient care).

Integrated working (recognising an individual or teams contribution to collaborative working outside the general practice to improved patient care and services).

Driving patient centred care (recognising an individual or team who ensures that patient values guide all clinical decisions and that care provided is responsive to individual patient preferences, needs and values).

Rising star (recognising the inspiring contribution a nurse new to primary care (within the last two years) has shown by her motivation and enthusiastic approach to improving patient outcomes).

Please take time to nominate a GP Practice Nurse who deserves to be celebrated and let them know that you appreciate their hard work and efforts. To encourage and increase the number of nominations an early bird deadline for nominations has been chosen.

Nominees who submit all required forms and nomination information by midnight December 20th will be entered into an exciting Mystery Prize Draw.

Final Nomination Deadline is Midnight Wednesday 26th December 2018

A Barnsley CCG panel will identify a single finalist for each of the five categories. The Barnsley finalists will be announced at the Practice Nurse Forum on 16th January 2019. These finalists will then go through to the Awards Ceremony at the Yorkshire & Humber Celebrating General Practice Nursing Conference to be held on Thursday 21st March 2019. This prestigious event brings together all finalists from across 21 CCGs in a day of recognition dedicated to celebrating exceptional achievement in primary care nursing. I hope you will take a few minutes to think of colleagues who are deserving of these awards. If you have any questions about the nominations process, please contact qualityteam.safehaven@nhs.net
