NHS Barnsley CCG finalist for two top healthcare awards

NHS Barnsley CCG finalist for two top healthcare awards
04 September 2018

NHS Barnsley CCG is on the shortlist for two national healthcare awards for the work it is doing to transform intermediate care services and for staff engagement.

The HSJ awards are one of the largest celebrations of healthcare excellence in the world, recognising and promoting the finest achievements in the NHS, and showcasing them to the service’s most influential leaders.

Lesley Smith, Barnsley CCG chief officer said: “We are incredibly proud to be shortlisted for these two awards. To have Barnsley recognised as one of the top areas in the country is fantastic as it shows we are having a real impact on people’s health.

“We have been recognised for the way we have joined up health and care teams over the past year to transform intermediate care. Having a single team with more therapists at the heart of it has meant that people aren’t staying unnecessarily long in a hospital bed and the one team work together seamlessly, so people don’t feel like they’re passed from pillar to post.

“Our second finalist spot is for our staff engagement. Our staff have told us they feel valued and have a role in their future and that’s healthier for them and also more productive. We see a direct link between their strive for excellence and improved patient and staff wellbeing.

“The HSJ Awards continue to be the gold standard awards programme in healthcare, giving a boost to teams and organisations through improved morale and assisting with efforts to secure support for projects. Each winner serves as an inspiration to organisations up and down the country, spurring teams to improve and adapt best practices.”
