New health and wellbeing websites will be a one-stop place for patients

New health and wellbeing websites will be a one-stop place for patients
27 March 2015

NHS Barnsley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is launching two health and wellbeing websites in the coming weeks for Barnsley residents.

The two websites, one focusing on cancer and the other one focusing on end of life care, aim to provide much-needed, easy-to-access information to people across the borough.

Dr Nick Balac, GP and Chair of the CCG said: “We hope these websites will become a really useful resource for people. We know that many people are often still unclear about the signs and symptoms of cancer and they can now check these out on this site.

“This site will cover everything from ways to prevent cancer through to what support is available locally if you are living with, or beyond, cancer.”

The site will feature symptom checkers and advice on preventing cancer as well as details of local support groups.

The second website will focus on end of life care and will provide details of local services and groups for example. The site has been developed with the input from local people.

Dr Mehrban Ghani, GP and Medical Director of the CCG said: “We hope to continue to develop the end of life care website with and for local patients, their families and carers. The website offers people a place to look for information in their own time.

“People have also told us that it would be helpful to have information in one place too, so that’s what our aim has been.”

The websites details will be launched on the CCG’s website: www.barnsleyccg.nhs.uk as well as on the CCG’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Search for NHS Barnsley CCG.
