Our Barnsley 2025 - your vision for your borough

Our Barnsley 2025 - your vision for your borough
22 March 2016

What’s your vision for the borough of Barnsley in 2025? That’s the question the One Barnsley partnership is asking residents next month.

We're promoting the Our Barnsley 2025 campaign, which has been developed by the One Barnsley Partnership – made up of key partners from the public, private, voluntary and community sectors, including Barnsley CCG.  The campaign will ask residents what they’d like Barnsley to be like by the year 2025.

To celebrate the launch of Our Barnsley 2025, a special event will take place on Tuesday 5 April 1pm - 4.30pm and Wednesday 6 April 9.30am – 1pm at the Better Barnsley shop. People are invited to be filmed sharing their thoughts on what they think would make Barnsley a better place to live and work in.

Residents will be asked to think about ideas for the whole borough and not just the town centre.  It’s a chance for people to share their aspirations and ideas about what they think would improve Our Barnsley 2025.

For the camera shy, there will also be the chance to share their thoughts online at https://goo.gl/IMNo5f or by leaving comments in a suggestion box at the Better Barnsley Shop.

The campaign supports the council’s vision, which has also been adopted by the One Barnsley Partnership of working together for a brighter future, a better Barnsley

Chris Webb, Chair of the One Barnsley partnership, said:  “We’re really looking forward to hearing a wide range of ideas. We’d like people to be brave, innovative and think outside the box.

“For the town to be great, everyone has to believe that ‘Barnsley is Brill’ and for us to move this project forward we need to know what people want to do to make that happen. We’d like feedback from the community of Barnsley about what would increase their aspirations so that we can agree some key projects to focus on. This may be better employment opportunities, but it might also be more community engagement or improved outdoor spaces. We’d like to know what you need to live a better life in Barnsley.”

For more information about the event visit the Barnsley Council Facebook page and click on events.

The One Barnsley Partnership looks at ways it can improve the borough by tackling issues it can influence and that matter to people, to make Barnsley a better place for everyone. The group includes representatives from; Barnsley Council, Barnsley and Rotherham and Chamber of Commerce, NHS Barnsley Clinical Commissioning Group, South Yorkshire Police, Barnsley College, South and West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust, Stage Coach, Job Centre Plus, Barnsley Hospital, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, Berneslai Homes and voluntary and community sector.
