New GP telephone system improves appointment booking and cancelling

The Patient Partner phone system is going live across Barnsley.  The service enables you to book, check, cancel and rearrange an appointment 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, without speaking to a receptionist. You can call your surgery’s usual number and will be given the choice to select the option.   

Each practice is able to decide the percentage of appointments it will make available through this system and it is able to detect whichever of these remain unfilled in the doctors’ and clinic diaries and you can then choose your preferred time as well as cancelling, amending or checking an appointment just by pressing a button on their touch tone telephone. 

You will be asked to enter your current telephone number, which should match the one you have on your record. Make sure your practice has the most up to date information.
