Barnsley CCG in running for Healthy Workplace Awards 2018

Barnsley CCG in running for Healthy Workplace Awards 2018
18 September 2018

Barnsley CCG is up for three awards recognising the ambition, leadership and innovation in the health and wellbeing of our workforce.

Barnsley Council will host the Healthy Workplace Awards and Best Bar None night on Wednesday 19 September to celebrate the work done by Barnsley businesses who provide fantastic examples of innovation, ambition and leadership.

The Healthy Workplace awards have been introduced, for the first time this year to recognise and celebrate the good work taking place in businesses across Barnsley to improve health and well-being in the workplace.

It's great that employers are recognising the business benefits of investing in the health and well-being of their workforce and how being a caring employer providing ‘good work’ enhances their company reputation and image.

The awards evening will showcase some excellent examples of the good practice that is taking place.

Barnsley CCG is amongst businesses from the private and public sector to be shortlisted for the awards including XPO Logistics, Amalgamated Construction, Distinction Doors, DWP Child Support Agency and NPS Barnsley.

There are three Healthy Workplace awards up for grabs on the night: the Best Health and Well-being Intervention/Initiative Award, the Workplace Health Champion Award and the HealthiestBarnsley Business Award.

The CCG has done significant work over the past twelve months to focus on staff health and wellbeing with the driving force of the staff forum the 'Radiators' leading the way with health and wellbeing weeks, mental health and wellbeing training as well as gathering evidence for the health workplace charter.

Best Bar None is a voluntary accreditation scheme, supported by the Home Office, which recognises excellence in Barnsley’s nightlife and accredited venues show that they are serious about safety and service.

The process of becoming a Best Bar None accredited venue is not an easy one as each venue must meet over 80 standards, providing evidence to show they match up to each one.

The Best Bar None accredited town centre pubs, and clubs are Che Bar, Wildcats, Joseph Bramah, Zinc, Annie Murray’s, Digital, Silkstone Inn, 00 Bar, The Open Kitchen, Parkers Café Brasserie, Corner Pin, Shakespeare and Arcade Ale House.

Alongside the accreditation, there will be four awards given out for Best Bar, Best Late Night Venue, the People’s Choice Award following a public vote and an Overall Winner.

The 2019 Barnsley Best Bar None Scheme will also be launched on the evening, and all town centre licensed venues are invited to take part.
