Barnsley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) wins a national award for connecting services online

Barnsley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) wins a national award for connecting services online
19 December 2017

NHS Barnsley CCG has won the clinical commissioning category at the Health Business awards 2017.

The CCG has won a national award for connecting computer healthcare systems across local healthcare organisations so that clinicians can securely share up-to-date patient data in real time, known as the Medical Interoperability Gateway (MIG).

The MIG enables clinicians to securely share up-to-date patient data, whatever IT system they use, wherever they are in the borough. This kind of access to data allows healthcare teams to deliver timely, safer, more efficient care.

Barnsley CCG was one of six finalists shortlisted for the accolade, which was sponsored by the National Autistic Society.

The Health Business awards recognise and celebrate the significant contributions made each year by organisations and individuals that work inside and alongside the NHS.

Lesley Smith, Chief Officer at NHS Barnsley CCG, said: “To have Barnsley recognised nationally is a wonderful achievement. It shows that together with all the local health and care organisations, we are having a real impact on people’s health and for us that is what really matters.”
