Online recruitment fair to showcase Barnsley Health and Care jobs
04 May 2022

Local NHS organisations and Barnsley Council are hosting a free-to-attend virtual recruitment event, as part of a recruitment drive to help get Barnsley and South Yorkshire residents into local health and care jobs.

The unique day-long event will be taking place on Wednesday 18th May 2022 from 11:00 - 19:00. The recruitment fair will take place entirely online, showcasing a range of exciting career opportunities in a range of clinical and non-clinical roles for people of all ages and backgrounds to discover.

The fair is fully interactive, giving people the chance to talk live with recruitment managers and current post-holders to find out more about working in the local health and care sector. Health and care organisations across Barnsley are actively seeking applications to fill a number of job roles and will be offering advice on how to apply for roles, including interview skills workshops.

A wide range of positions are available across the borough, whether you’re an experienced, registered health professional or new to the idea of working in the health and care sector, there’s something for everyone.  There are career opportunities in all areas of health and social care, including nursing, care, heath care support and many other non-clinical roles that will be showcased at the event.

To take part in the virtual fair, users simply need an internet connection, mobile device, laptop or computer and an interest in health and care. There will be lots of information about different types of job roles and a number of guest speakers will help to share their working experiences in a virtual auditorium.

Jayne Sivakumar, Chief Nurse at NHS Barnsley CCG said: “The event is free to attend and showcases jobs and career opportunities for people in Barnsley. We know there’s a lot of talent out there in our borough and we’re excited to give those people the opportunity to bring their talents to our workforce.”

“Careers in health and care are extremely rewarding and there are lots of roles available within the Barnsley area. The town offers so many opportunities for people looking to find work in health and social care, so whatever your ambitions, you can achieve them in Barnsley.”

“You don’t need to have experience of working in health and care. If you share our values, there’s training for everything else.”

Wendy Lowder, Executive Director for Adults and Communities, said: “We know that when people are looking for work, they are also looking to make a difference in a rewarding career they can be proud of; if this is you, then working in health and care could be your next move.

“You could help make a real difference in the borough, supporting people who need your help and companionship. There is a wide range of health and care roles available in Barnsley, all of which will allow you to make a real difference in your community and someone’s life. These roles offer lots of opportunities for you to develop your skills, and some offer flexible working hours that can fit around your studies or family commitments. If you think this could be for you, visit the virtual recruitment event to see what the next part of your journey could be.”
