A team of walkers from NHS Barnsley Clinical Commissioning Group has collectively raised over £1000 for local mental health charity, Rotherham & Barnsley Mind. The staff group, who refer to themselves as the ‘Hillder Hikers’, recently formed to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge and successfully succeeded in beating their target of completing the walk in less than 12 hours.

Likewise, as well as beating their target time the walkers also doubled their fundraising target to make a fantastic grand total of £1308.02, which was handed over to the staff at Rotherham & Barnsley Mind this week.

Kay Morgan, at the CCG said: “Staff from across the CCG decided to get together and challenge ourselves to raise money for a great cause and we decided that we wanted to support a local mental health charity, Rotherham & Barnsley Mind. We are very thankful to everyone who sponsored us and we are blown away with the amount that the CCG has raised to help Barnsley people”.

Rachel Siddall, Chief Executive Officer at Rotherham & Barnsley Mind said: “We were thrilled to hear that the Hillder Hikers had chosen Rotherham & Barnsley Mind as their nominated charity. We really do rely on the generosity of the public and their fundraising activities to help us continue the valuable work we provide in our local communities”.
