Help shape hospital services

Health and Care working together across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw

We are one of a partnership of 23 organisations responsible for looking after the health and care of the 1.5 million people living in Barnsley, Bassetlaw, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.

We’re made up of NHS organisations, local authorities and key voluntary sector and independent partners in our region. Through working together, we have been chosen by NHS England as one of the first areas of the country to become an Integrated Care System.

An Integrated Care System (ICS) is another way of describing the ambition we have locally, supported by our patients and staff, to ensure health and care services are the best they can possibly be. Working together in this way means that we will be able to better join up GPs and hospitals, physical and mental healthcare, social care and the NHS and give our patients the seamless care they have told us they want.

Through partnership working, we believe we can make real and long lasting improvements to the health of local people. As individuals and organisations working alone, we would never be able to achieve the same results.

Our goal is simple. We want everyone in South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw to have a great start in life, with the support they need to stay healthy and live longer.

There are many opportunities for involvement in this work; from feeding views into current consultations, to being a member of the regional Citizens Panel.

Please visit the website for more information, including reports on work already undertaken available here.

Evaluating how we can continuously improve the way we are involving people

In addition to the above, our Integrated Care System has been selected to be the first of six national NHS England public engagement projects. It will be supported to develop this work in partnership with NHS England.  We held a Discovery Day in November 2018, which was a self assessment and evaluation of things that work well now and things that could be improved in the future. The report detailing feedback from the Discovery Day will be published here once available and shared with all attendees.

Views sought to help shape hospital services in our area - Hospital Services review

Healthcare professionals across South Yorkshire, Bassetlaw and Chesterfield are coming together with patients and the public to help shape how hospital services could be delivered in the future to ensure local people continue to get safe, sustainable, high quality care.

The Hospital Services review is being carried out in stages. Views have been and will continue to be sought in a variety of ways and through a range of different formats. Examples of this will include; through the development of engagement documents (both paper and online surveys (including easy read versions), by holding local events/ meetings, focus groups, conducting interviews etc.

Feedback will be provided to everyone who has been involved.  Please see the most recent engagement report here on how people have been involved across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw to date and the impact of the involvement.
